Summer of 2013

Here is our summer, in (lots of) pictures.

F cut his head on a rock.  This picture was taken a couple months after the fact.  I'm still waiting for his hair to grow back in completely.

They loved their new sandbox.  Most of the sand is now all over the ground in various places.  Guess we'll be refilling it next year.
C played soccer.  Well, sort of.  He was more interested in not listening to the coach.  But at least he had fun kicking the ball all over the gym.
This is the extent of our fireworks on the Fourth of July.  The rules are pretty strict around here.  From the sound of it, our neighbors don't really care though.  Maybe one of these times we'll go out and see what kind of show they put on.
Marc had a really cool summer this year, he broke his knee on the Fourth and spent the rest of the season in bed healing up.

C took swimming lessons.  This year he was old enough to go in the pool without me.  It was much hotter just watching!  F had lessons too, but since I was also in the pool and Marc was home resting his knee, I don't have any pictures of that.
F played soccer as well.  This was probably his favorite activity, making "ice cream cones."  Most days he would play along for maybe 15 minutes, then he just wanted to run around the gym.  I noticed on the sign-ups for the next session that parent participation is now required.
Both of them enjoyed playing in the backyard pool.  We had plenty of hot days for it too!
We went through a whole box of Otter Pops this year.  In the past I've had to throw out a bunch.  We're sorry to see summer end, but fall has its benefits too!

2 & 4

Fintan turned two this spring.  Here is a picture of him with his favorite present.  Vacuuming is serious business, you know.  At his two year well check, he was 33 inches tall and weighed 28 pounds.  Like many toddlers, his favorite foods are the healthy ones, like macaroni and cheese and pizza.  He also has arguments with his brother now so that is fun.  However, the times that they play well together make up for it!

Cian turned four a week after his brother's birthday.  He picked his outfit himself.  He loves button-up collared shirts.  At his well check, he was 3 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 35 pounds.  He likes riding his bike and playing at the park, or just outside in general, looking for roly polys or whatever other bugs he can find.  He also likes playing games and watching YouTube on dad's iPad, I think he was especially into Pink Panther at the time.

We had a joint birthday party again this year.  I never get very many pictures because I'm too busy playing hostess, so this is about the best one I have.  Fintan had a tie too, but it was long gone before it was time for cake.  This year's theme was Curious George, they were really into that show for a while, until right before the party of course.

Merry Christmas

Marc got the boys these kazoos for their stocking, and they loved them!

Stay at Home Mom

I never posted this, but just before their birthdays this year I quit my job to stay home full time with the boys.  Most of the time I enjoy it, but do occasionally miss the paycheck.  I still have to do some training to keep my CPA though, so I'm not completely out of the loop.  Probably a good thing, because two days after I quit we found out the office here where the hubby still works is most likely going to close.  So much for my plan to return there in a few years.  We are still figuring it all out and hoping we don't have to relocate, but we'll see what happens.

Three and a Half

There is no well child check at three and a half, so I'm not sure exactly how tall C is or how much he weighs.  I know he is getting bigger though, because he is still outgrowing his clothes, and is tall enough to ride his bike now.  He also decided he was ready to use the potty, so is now potty trained except at night.  That means he could start preschool this fall, yikes.  I wouldn't say he is obssessed with any one thing like kids sometimes are (except TV, but I'm trying not to let that take over), but he has been playing with his Legos pretty consistently.  He is also still a picky eater, but his current favorites are fettuccine alfredo, pot pie, and chicken nuggets.  Here are a couple of recent pictures.  He usually always gives that cheesy grin lately when I try to take his picture.

One and a Half

At F's 18 month well child visit back in October, he was 31 1/4 inches tall (15%) and 25 lbs 7 oz (60%), with a head circumference of 49 cm (88%).  He had one vaccine, a flu shot, and he cried but I think C cried more (he got one then too).  He wears mostly 24 month clothes, but can still fit into some 18 month pants.  He is not as picky of an eater and loves mac and cheese, pizza, and chicken nuggets.  He can say quite a few words and is starting to make phrases.  He thinks it's funny to fake a giant sneeze, especially while standing on something he shouldn't be, like the footstool or end table.  We had to convert his crib to a toddler bed the weekend before Christmas because he was climbing out.  I looked into those crib tents because I wasn't sure he (okay, I) was ready to switch but apparently they don't sell those anymore.  It hasn't been as terrible as I thought it would be, except last night he was finally able to open the door himself, so we'll see what happens now.  Below are a couple of recent pictures.  The hat is Cian's, but Fintan wears it quite a bit, even to bed sometimes.
